Tuttle-tidbits from August

Last month there was a whole lot of driving that came with the ministry that God has set before us. We drove through Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington. Presently Amy and I and the kids are in Portland Oregon where we have been able to see friends and family and also preach Gods word in several different contexts. While August was a really full month for us, we still have quite a bit on the schedule before we can really turn all of our focus to the work in Freedom California. The month of September is also going to be very busy as it involves trips to Lubbock TX, Buffalo NY, Jefferson City MO, Dubuque IA, Seattle WA, Portland OR and then finally back to California.  Please pray for us and all the great ministry opportunities we will have in each of these places.

One of the highlights from August took place at Lakeside Bible Camp on Whidbey island near Seattle Washington. It was family camp two for the year and I preached on the first 7 chapters of the book of Acts. The Lord really seemed to be working in the hearts of many people and we were encouraged to see a hunger for God and a passion to live for him in these last days.  We had a great time and we thank the Lord for these unique opportunities to encourage and challenge our fellow believers in Christ. At the beginning of the week we didn't know a single person and by the end of the week we felt like everyone there was a long time friend. There's nothing quite like the body of Christ!

The Lord has blessed our family in many ways!  The blessings start with Amy.  She does all things well but probably the most notable thing is that she is an absolutely amazing mom and wife that has invested immeasurably in us as a family.  Javen and Cullen are working and living in Dubuque IA where they are both very involved in their local churches while finishing up at Emmaus Bible College.  Bria is done with high-school and will be taking a gap year in her studies while working a humanities job in Freedom as soon as we get back there.  Josiah is entering the eleventh grade as a homeschooler and he will be balancing his studies with a lifeguarding job at the YMCA and surfing whenever he can :)   Mya will turn 14 in just a few days and is a social butterfly who loves to talk with friends, read books and write letters. Ellia is the little sister that's not so little anymore... she's also the one that has the whole family wrapped around her pinky finger.  We thank the Lord for our kids and its fun to see them grow up following Jesus while developing their gifts and abilities for His glory.

While in Freedom for the first half of August I was able to do some follow up work with many of the key contacts that we have met during our time there.  Ernestina who is a Mexican that works as a strawberry picker invited us to her house for an unbelievable authentic Mexican lunch! In spite of her poverty she really blessed us with this gesture of love and hospitality. The next day she opened her house for a food distribution where hundreds of low income families received rations of basic food staples. Please pray for Ernestina to respond to the gospel as we keep sharing it with her.

After open air preaching in the park last month I had several great conversations with interested individuals that gave me their phone numbers and asked for follow up Bible studies. One morning I randomly called one of those guys and he was surprisingly available and anxious to get together. He basically knows nothing about the bible but within 20 minutes of our phone call we were seated in a coffee shop discussing John 1:1-14.  All I did was ask questions: (Who? What? When? Where? How? Why?) And at one point he said: "Its crazy, that this 'Word' person seems to be God and yet he became a human being... Imagine that!...." Please pray for Fransisco.  He's really searching!

Missions quote for the day by Lenard Ravenhill: “But have we Holy Ghost power? Power that restricts the devils power? Power that pulls down strongholds and obtains promises? What has hell to fear other than a God anointed, prayer-powered church?”  ……. “The early church was married to poverty, prisons, and persecutions. Today the church is married to prosperity, personality and popularity.” ….. “The church right now has more fashion than passion,is more pathetic than prophetic and is more superficial than supernatural.”  The church used to be a lifeboat rescuing those who are perishing.  Now she's more like a cruise ship recruiting those who just want entertainment.”
