Praying Friends and Family,
We set out for our trip to the jungle on Thursday! Thank you so much for your prayers, we are halfway there! Let me just list a couple of praises and then I´ll leave you to the rest of your busy day... but please do keep us in your prayers... ;)
2 1/2 hours from Trujillo, the timing belt on our car broke leaving us stranded on the PanAmerican highway... but only 30 minutes from a small town where some of our great friends live. Not only that but Juan was able to get a van and a wire and tow us to his house, and be in touch with a mechanic who lives in the next city, Chiclayo. So we were able to stay the night with friends and enjoy fellowship and the prayer meeting at the church in Ucupe. PRAISE the LORD for his protection, provision and plan in all the little things.
The next morning the mechanic came to tow us to Chiclayo. The car repair was SO simple and got done really fast. In Chiclayo, we wanted to take advantage of visiting friends/missionaries (the Tom Clark family), and see the work they are involved with... christian school and orphanage. Very encouraging, and a really yummy lunch!
We were pretty sure we could make it to our normal halfway point and so at midday Friday, we set out. We made it in at 9pm and had a good rest, and the longed after showers... cold, but refreshing nonetheless. :)
This morning (Saturday), while eating breakfast downstairs Micah met a man who works for the contractor that repairs the road... BIG landslide last night, it will take all day to clear... so, PRAISE the LORD, that we are stuck here in this hotel, rather than on the road in the HOT sun! We anticipate leaving here after lunch to make it into Tarapoto late (7hr drive), but may end up staying the night and trying for tomorrow - depends on what the road condition hotline tells us :)
We can feel the Lord´s watchful care and covet your prayers for safety and that we would accomplish all that He has planned in advance for us to do.
Con mucho amor,
Amy for all
Pray for my soul. More things are wrought by prayer
Than this world dreams of. Wherefore, let thy voice
Rise like a fountain for me night and day.
For what are people better than sheep or goats
That nourish a blind life within the brain,
If, knowing God, they lift not hands of prayer
Both for themselves and those who call them friends?
For so the whole round earth is every way
Bound by gold chains about the feet of God.
